Order Cycle Time

Definition

The elapsed time from order receipt to a defined completion point, commonly shipment confirmation or customer delivery.

In practical terms

The chosen start and end points must be consistent when measuring performance. Processing, inventory availability, picking, packing, and carrier handoff all influence the result.

Example

An order received at 9 a.m. and shipped at 3 p.m. has a six-hour warehouse order cycle time.
