Ex Works (EXW)

Definition

An Incoterms rule under which the seller makes goods available at a named place with limited responsibility for onward movement.

In practical terms

The buyer generally carries most transportation and clearance responsibility from the named place. Parties should confirm whether the buyer can practically complete origin formalities.

Example

Goods are made available at the sellers facility, and the buyer arranges collection and export activity.
