Air Freight

Air Waybill (AWB)

Definition

A transport document and shipment record used for cargo moving by air.

In practical terms

The air waybill identifies the parties, routing, goods, and handling information. Unlike a negotiable ocean bill of lading, it is generally not a document of title.

Example

An exporter provides the air waybill number when tracing an airport-to-airport shipment.
