GLS Canada’s Tariff 100 combines a summary of common accessorials with detailed rules and conditions. This FreightXO guide condenses the most useful parcel charges. It is a reference, not a GLS quote, rate agreement, or invoice calculation.

Direct-network status matters

Several fees are lower within GLS Canada’s direct network and higher outside it. Confirm origin, destination, and service routing before estimating the charge.

Fuel and carbon are variable

GLS publishes fuel each Thursday for the following Monday. Tariff rows marked with an asterisk are subject to fuel and carbon. Check the live percentage for the shipment date.

Delivery, address, and service fees

Destination type, delivery instructions, return attempts, and special delivery environments control these charges.

Signature Required	$5.75 per shipment	A shipper request for a signature at delivery.	The tariff also lists $5.75 for signature within a low-commercial-density area.
Saturday ServiceWKD / WKK	$38.55 plus $1.65 per kilometre where applicable	Eligible Saturday delivery, pickup, or hold-for-pickup service.	Selected locations use the flat fee; other directly served destinations add the kilometre charge.
Second DeliverySDS	$9.75 direct; $18.15 outside direct network per additional trip	A return trip after an address issue or receiver absence.	The charge applies to each additional delivery attempt.
Service Switch-OverSSO	$49.75 per shipment	A customer-requested switch between GLS Canada Freight and Parcel networks.	The request and network eligibility control availability.
No Pickup	$8.55 per occurrence	A pickup attempt where no shipment is ready, access is restricted, no dock or vehicle is available, or notice was late.	The detailed tariff lists the qualifying pickup failures.
Storage	$1.55 per piece per day; $7.50 minimum	A parcel still undelivered or not redelivered after three days.	Storage begins under the tariff’s timing rules.
Trade ShowTRD	$108.75 per shipment	A shipment originating from or delivered to a trade show.	Other transportation and handling charges remain separate.
Undeliverable Package Return	Regular ground charges	A package returned because delivery cannot be completed.	The applicable return transportation rate controls.

Handling, size, and weight fees

GLS measures weight and dimensions and may apply different amounts inside and outside its direct parcel network.

Overweight ShipmentOVW	$51.20 per shipment within direct points	Total shipment weight over 280 lb.	If one piece exceeds 70 lb, the per-piece charge replaces the shipment charge.
Overweight PieceOWS	$32.85 per piece within direct points	A single piece over 70 lb.	Billed in addition to other handling charges when incurred.
Overweight Outside Direct NetworkOWA / OPA	$61.85 per shipment or $39.50 per piece	A shipment over 280 lb or a piece over 70 lb outside the direct network.	The per-piece amount applies instead of the shipment amount when one piece exceeds 70 lb.
More Than Four PiecesMPC	$2.70 per piece from the fifth piece	More than four pieces on the same consolidated shipment.	Consolidated billing rules apply.
Over Maximum LimitsOML / OMA	$495.00 direct; $1,335.00 outside direct network per piece	A piece over the applicable 165-inch size, 150 lb weight, or 120-inch length limit within Canada.	GLS may refuse the shipment. The outside-network longest-side limit is 108 inches.
Low-Density Large Package	$67.20 per piece	A large package delivered to a low-commercial-density or residential area.	Applied in addition to the low-density area charge.
Low-Density Overweight	$67.20 per piece or $87.40 per shipment	An overweight piece or shipment delivered to a low-density or residential area.	Applied in addition to the low-density area charge.

Controlled goods, declared value, and protection fees

Approval, service availability, packaging, classification, and destination rules apply to controlled or higher-risk shipments.

Declared Value	4.25% of declared value	A shipment where the customer declares a value on the bill of lading.	The tariff’s liability limits, exclusions, and claim rules still apply.
Protect From FreezePFF	15% of transportation charges; $6.45 minimum per shipment	A shipment needing available protect-from-freeze service.	Service is subject to availability and marked as fuel- and carbon-applicable.
Peak Season SurchargePKS / SHP / LPP / OMP	Variable when announced	Qualifying packages tendered during a peak period.	The Tariff 100 rules do not publish one fixed annual amount.

Account, billing, and administrative fees

Manual documents, incorrect account details, customized reporting, payment method, and invoice status can create these charges.

Backup Document CopiesBUD	$0.19 per page; $6.93 minimum	A request for paper backup documents with an invoice or other document copies.	Online or claim-related exceptions may apply.
Paper InvoicePAP	$5.95 per mailed invoice	A paper invoice supplied instead of or in addition to an online invoice.	Applied to each paper invoice.
Customized Report	$82.25 per billable hour	A customer-requested customized report.	The customer must acknowledge the cost before work begins.
Invalid or Missing Account NumberMIA	$16.40 per shipment	A missing or incorrect account number on the shipper waybill.	Applied when GLS must correct the account information.
Manual Shipping	$5.95 per shipment	A manual bill of lading or a shipment requiring manual processing.	Electronic preparation can avoid this charge.
Weekly Minimum InvoiceMIN	$29.95 per week	A preferred-rate account that does not meet its minimum weekly volume.	The charge is waived when the account has no shipment activity during the week.
Waiting Time / Scheduled Detention	$29.50 per 15-minute increment	Pickup or delivery waiting after the included time, or scheduled detention.	Rounded up to the next 15 minutes.
Payment Interest	30% annually or 2.5% monthly	Unpaid invoice balances.	Invoices are due on receipt under the tariff.
Non-Sufficient FundsNSF	$31.25 per payment	A payment made with insufficient funds.	Applied per affected payment.

Quebec Fuel Premium, QFAQFA	2.5% of freight charges	Shipments moving inside Quebec.	Applied to freight and value-added services subject to the fuel surcharge.
